Acute kidney injury (AKI) has risen dramatically in the U.S. since the mid-2000s, necessitating better post-discharge care. To address this, the Mayo Clinic launched an RPM program in 2021 for AKI survivors, leveraging digital tools like blood pressure cuffs, scales, and tablets to monitor patients’ vitals remotely. This program enables care teams to track and respond to critical changes, such as electrolyte imbalances and fluid buildup, reducing complications and supporting kidney recovery.
